Art, poetry, music, dance and drama transforming the City

Welcome to the Arts & Spirituality Center website! We hope that you will explore these pages to learn more about our mission and projects.

The Arts & Spirituality Center was born in the latter part of 2000, as a group of artists and spiritual leaders envisioned a non-sectarian organization that could focus on the interplay of artistic and spiritual expression as an avenue for social and personal healing. The Arts & Spirituality Center, a not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code, conducts its programs primarily at the neighborhood level, working with multi-faith and multi-cultural constituencies around Philadelphia. All contributions are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

In these first formative years, the Arts & Spirituality Center has:

Launched six major projects, working with 60 community partners and serving over 3,500 participants.

Created Garden for a Recovering World: a 3-story ceramic tile mural and adjoining sculpture garden in collaboration with artist Lynn Denton, addiction recovery community New Jerusalem Now in North Philadelphia, and neighborhood children and adults.

Originated and implemented Arts After School, a program that has impacted West Philadelphia children whose lives have been touched by poverty, violence, despair, and racism, in collaboration with the Christian Association at the University of Pennsylvania and a diverse group of University students

Presented more than 50 workshops, programs, and artistic productions around the city in partnership with a various community organizations, addressing a wide range of needs and concerns. (Please check out our calendar of upcoming public events!)

Seeded two major initiatives, MasterPeace^TM and the Interfaith Youth Poetry Project that have since became our signature projects.

Currently launching an innovative Drums for Peace initiative.

Our programming is supported financially by a variety of organizations, foundations, and individual donors like you. Programming is administered by a small staff, a talented cadre of artists and a committed board of directors.
