Everyday we learn more about how vital music and art is to the learning process. Meanwhile, Philadelphia's classrooms face more and more serious challenges -- from funding cuts to decaying facilities to cultural influences that glorify violence.  Drums for Peace harnesses the power of rhythm to nurture empowerment, creativity and conflict resolution among young people.

This project unites many cultures and ethnic communities that have brought their drum culture to Philadelphia, while teaching vulnerable youth about resources for peace, communication and community-building inherent in a variety of cultures.
